Oracle OS authentication?

Hello List,

Before I give gvSIG a try, I would like to know if it supports Oracle's OS authentication?  Unfortunately our IT group will have a problem without it.  And if anybody can think of the pros and cons of having OS authentication, I'd love to hear from you too.  I really do enjoy using gvSIG and it would be a shame to not be able to use it at my workplace.

Bob

Hi Ben,
I am not completely sure, but if you mean "connect to a oracle spatial
database": yes!
You will need to download a ojdbc14.jar from the oracle homepage and
copy it to the right location. Details are available here [1]

Hope that helps. Best regards,
Wolfgang

Some javascript/style in this post has been disabled (why?)
Re: [Gvsig_english] Oracle OS authentication?
Hello Bob,

I assume "OS authentication" = operating system authentication :

First of all, are you talking about an Oracle Spatial database or a traditional (alphanumeric) Oracle database?

The attached screenshot has made me optimistic about OS authentication with an Oracle Spatial database, because apparently there are no differences in the connection string on the client-side (well...only a hopefully harmless bar "/"). So if you have set up a Oracle Spatial database server in your network, try to connect to it leaving the user and password as empty strings. If it does not work, send the log file to the list please.
