I just wanted to explain the on-demand FLAC changes I've been making.
None of these should affect audacity behavior because of the
#define/#ifdefs, but some changes do touch
DirManager/WaveTrack/WaveClip/Sequence/BlockFile.cpp/h. In case
anyone's worried and doesn't want to look thru the CVS logs, those
changes are few and are just to add an extra function or default
parameters.
Just so you know, I'll probably be working on it over this weekend a
bit. For anyone curious, currently only importing and 'demanding' a
jump to start decoding a later sample work - so you can playback and
do an effect, but saving/cutting-pasting etc do not. I'm implementing
a FLAC importer first because it's a clean and easy to understand API,
which could serve as a model/template for others, and also because for
worrying about breaking things, it's not generally used as commonly as
some other formats, although I use it a lot.. I'll probably go to
FFMPEG next like Gale suggested.
I'm not hoping to get this into 2.0, mostly because of the testing
resources that it would drain. And I'm hoping to squash a few more
bugs.
