Hello VTPO Friends,

Here is an update on what's happening at our virtual organ factory:

My talented partner Alan Baker and I are making great progress on a new series of VTPOs for Hauptwerk.  The brand name for this series is "Paramount" (tm).

As some of you are aware, Hauptwerk will soon offer a completely free version.  It will have the following limits:  a maximum of 1.5 GB for samples, polyphony will be capped at 256 notes, and there can be no more than two audio outs.  These restrictions notwithstanding, the free edition of Hauptwerk will be a very playable platform for smaller VPOs.

Our plan is to offer a 3 manual, 10 rank instrument for free (download only).  The Paramount 310 will be a very complete theatre organ, yet suitable for use with the free edition of Hauptwerk.  We hope that it will attract a new audience from around the world to virtual theatre organs.  With the new free edition of Hauptwerk, there will be many more organists who adopt the Hauptwerk platform.  Once the power of Hauptwerk is appreciated, there will undoutably be many who will see the benefits of purchasing the licensed editions.

Also soon to be released will be a commercial upgrade to the Paramount 320.  The model 320 will be priced very aggressively.  It will require either the Basic Edition or Advanced Edition of Hauptwerk.  The sampling work for both models is complete (with over 4,300 individual samples). The samples are improved over the giga versions, and many are totally new.  Alan is hard at work on the Organ Definition Files.  From the prototypes that I have seen, I believe that you will be impressed!

A bit further down the road, we plan two further upgrades to the Paramount 330 and ultimately the monster Paramount 440.  All of these organs will offer stereo samples and real sampled trems exclusively.

We will soon make available some beta screen shots and specs for the 310 and the 320 models.

We'll keep you posted!

Fantastic hardly describes your's and Alan's contributions here. There seems to be no limit to the possibilities and where this effort can go. WOW and that's capitalized on purpose. It's almost to the point as to which "best" we go to next.

Thanks for your enthusiasm, Don :)   Alan is making great progress with the ODFs, and we'll need to put it all together and calibrate the voicing.  Hopefully, it won't be a terribly long wait.

Once Alan has reviewed and approved the copy, we will publish a five page spec sheet which includes screen shots for models 310 and 320.

Perhaps you could consider an option pack, with these additional voices and others you would undoubtedly have in mind, so that the user can do some fine tuning to the spec. Also if you provide an unencrypted odf, this would make the offering more valuable by far for those of us who would like to customize using examples from various sample sets.

It would be nice to have some of the more esoteric stops available.

Don,

Thank you for your suggestions.  Right now we're very open to new ideas.   I do not have any of the above samples in my library, but would gladly build some if you or someone else would make recordings.  The Kimball 3/28 at the Oriental in Milwaukee would be a nice organ to capture the ranks you requested (along with some of those delicious Kimball strings).  If interested, I can supply details of how to go about the recording process.
