I notice on page 16 of today's West, the article that states that Norma Jeffery, the former head of the Curriculum Council whom many held responsible for the outcomes-based education debacle has lost her high-powered position in the Education Department. She was executive director of policy planning and accountability. Apparntly she will be redeployed in the public service but not in the Education Department.

What I find amazing is that DET pushes accountability at every opportunity, but the people who should be held accountable for the OBE debacle just get moved around, like a game of musical chairs. I have seen the health of teachers suffer greatly, some who have left teaching prematurely and have really suffered, but unfortnately the "purple circle" seems to be immuned to the full meaning of accountability. When will we ever see justice?

Well said ST

I and many others clearly suffered under OBE and 'she who must be obeyed' should be held to account...in a precise and punitive way.

If it's true, good riddance I say...we need a bit of that here in the banana state.

Brilliant letter on page 23 of today's West, written by Patrick F Whalen on this topic. I particularly liked his last sentence: "Too bad accountability is a foreign concept in WA's public service".
