Number automatically appended to titles

When I save pages, events, news items, etc. a number is always appended to the title.  For example if I type in the title "My Page" it is automatically changed to "My Page 1".  If a period is in the title it'll do something like changing "Mr. Jones' Page" to "Mr. 1 Jones Page". So I have to go back and correct it each time I add an object.
Is there a way to disable this behavior?

This sounds very strange, I have never seen this kind of behaviour. Is  
this a clean Plone site, or are there any add-ons installed?

I upgraded my installation to Enfold Server version 4 (Plone 3.1.7) and have the same problems.  I tried a clean install on a test server.  I added PloneFormGen 1.2.7 with its dependencies, and do not have the problem. I added LinguaPlone 2.1.1 and the problem returned of numbers automatically appended to page titles. There are no other 3rd party products installed, other than what is bundled with Enfold Server.
Has anyone else run in to this problem, or know a solution?

The problem seems to be ExtensionRename product, include in Enfold Server, so this is probably the wrong forum.  I'll work directly with Enfold. Thanks

p.s.  I think Plone's an incredible system and have tremendous respect for all of the developers. Great job you do!
