Northern Reunion at Leeds 7th June 2009

I would like to take this oppertunity of putting the record straight regarding the situation which has now caused there to be two reunions in the north of ngland to be booked on the same day.We all know that the founders of the northern reunion were Bob and Jean Bell together with Monty & Terry Swann, and as we all know Bob Bell became very ill and In a bid to find out if there was going to be any reunion this year I wrote two letters to Mrs. Jean Bell dated the 16th February 09 and the 15th March 09, I also spoke by telephone to Terry Swann who told me that he would speak with Monty Swann and then talk to Darren Ward at Leeds who has now booked the hall at Leeds. On the 6th March, I received confirmation from Darren Ward that Buddy Ward had telephoned him and told him to go ahead and run the reunion but not to forget to give Bob a mention and Darren Ward also spoke with Jean Bell. ( I have retained the messages) I then received confirmation from Darren Ward that he had booked the hall etc and I then set about getting the invites ready and I posted the details on the 7th March,09. I have also been in contact with two television companies and a Magazine editor together with several very well know television personalities, and all have agreed to attend on the day. I done all of this so that the reunion would not be lost and in the full belief that The Bell's were not running one due to Bob's ill health and done with the best will and the best interest of Bob Bell and the reunion and I was very upset to read some postings where I was accused of Highjacking a reunion this was not and certainly is not the case.Needless to say I was somewhat surprised to read the posting by Bob Bell's daughter on the 17th April,09, some five weeks after saying that they were not holding any reunion and most surprising I also note that for the past seven years the Ellesmere Port reunion was always held on the bank holiday monday but for reason only known to themselves the have now decided to hold their reunion on the same date as ours a week later than their usual date.The reunion at Leeds is going ahead as advertised and people must make up their own minds which one they attend. The above are the true facts in this matter and we have done nothing wrong and we have gone to great lenghts to insure the attendance of as many as possible in order that a good day would be had by all and the interest of Bob Bell at heart. And on this note Darren Ward, Steve Fury and myself wish Bob Bell a speedy and full recovery

Tony Kelly: I think you will find you are wrong about the Northern re-union always being held on Bank Holiday Monday. I have attended every one of them,always on a SUNDAY!

Thank you Tony Francis for pointing out my mistake. You are correct for the past seven years it was always held on the sunday of the bank holiday weekend, but it most certainly was never held on any other date except that date. I hope you are well and I hope to see you soon on Central Drive.

I wish to confirm that The Northern Wrestlers Reunion will take place as planned at The Rothwell Sports Centre, Wakefield Road, Oulton, Leeds. LS26.8EL. On Sunday the 7th June, 2009, From 12.00pm to 6.00pm .The directions are: Come off the M62 at junction 30, follow the sign marked Rothwell & Oulton, that is the Wakefield Road, the venue is about one mile down that road on the right hand side, it is clearly visable. I am pleased to say that there has been a great response and a large crowd is anticipated. I know that many wrestlers will be attending from north and south both from Joint Promotions and  the various Independent Promotions. It has been confirmed to me to day that a very well known overseas heavyweight villian will be attending, this man has faught the likes of the great shooter Pat O'Connor, Gene Kiniski,Harley Race,Antonio Inoki, Giant Baba and many others, he stands 6 feet 2 inches and weighs 245 lbs.Also in attendance will be former British Champions of various weights and holders of the Lord Mountevans gold belts for Joint Promotions  and various champions from Independent Promotions .I am also pleased to announce another piece of wrestling heritage and that is that there will be on display a championship belt belonging to The Beresford family.ie Ted Beresford of Morrell & Beresford Promotions, his family. Sir Jimmy Saville is also expected to attend . hi there tony kelly tony kaye here from leeds i got an invite to from albert marshall to go to rothwell but i had booked an holiday in tenerief ,should have gone to the reunion instead any ways any more events if i can make it i would appreciate an invite . missed old pedro and jack land would love to see them again .
