I have some songs in low volume and some in high
volume. How could I make them all same. Can someone
explain what amplify, compressor and normalize do for
me. I need to reduce volume for some songs. The
compressor when I open it it comes set at -12db. Is
this a standard? Also, the amplify also comes up a 0.0
value or 1.2 value? Is this also a standard. Do I need
to use normalize at all, as all my tracks are
individual tracks of pop music. Thanks. Sai

I would normilize so you don't have to keep turning the volume up and down.
Take care.

Check the manual for descriptions:

Amplify each song separately to New Peak Amplitude (dB) = 0.0 and they
will all have the same maximum volume.

If the songs are commercially mixed, they're already compressed. Use
normalize if you have a DC offset. Part of Normalize is identical to
Amplify, except specifically to -3dB. The Amplify effect allows your
choice of setting. It defaults to maximize the selection.
