New Step 4 Settlement Concerning Carrier Pick Up

The issue in this grievance concerns management utilizing a city carrier to perform a carrier pickup on a rural route prior to utilizing the assigned carrier on the rural route or any available leave replacements. In this case the rural carrier craft was entitled to perform the carrier pickup.

It pays to keep an eye out....

During the last mail count, one of our carriers overheard a 204B asking a clerk to drive out to the route and delivery an express package.

Had the carrier not overheard this little matter and raised Cain, she would have lost the credit for the express delivery.

I wonder just how often something like this occurs?

  Thanks for the update PT.
I may sound bitter, but, although I recieve about a dozen or so requests for this service a year, I hyave never recieved one during a mailcount. I don't believe the particular management in this office would not present it to me, I just didn't get one. Therefore, I do them all for free. Personally I could care less if the janitor did them.

i have a carrier pickup almost every day from the local social security office i deliver to, except during mailcount. this past count, i had 3 for the month.  5 the week after count. (federal office playing with my paycheck).  on the other hand, a fellow carrier in the office misses out on about 20-30 pkgs a day from a local business because he can't get there consistantly before 5:00.
