The National Board is alarmed by some of these directives as they are in violation of
handbooks, manuals and the contract. Therefore, we are compelled to place all rural carriers on
notification of their rights and instructions on how to handle these issues.

It would be prudent for the National Board for our union to work to have the Christmas Overtime Period portion of the contract be taken out.  It boils down to one very importent question:  Why bother?  If management is still able to manipulate our time in order to prevent overtime to be earned, why build up the expectations of all carriers (regs and subs alike) in the possiblility of earning extra overtime pay?

Our PM was sleeping on the job somewhat.
Regular on the K route got a couple hours overtime last pay period.
I should have about 90 minutes OT this week on my H route.

The first week of the Christmas period we worked up to our evaluation then went home.  The rest of the time they refused to bring in help no matter what.  I worked 13 hours last Monday in a blizzard and I was one of the first ones back in.  All of the regulars will receive massive overtime this year because they had all of the subs sitting home.

On the city side they were down 4 routes Christmas Eve and the last carriers went home after 8:30, they were down 9 routes at the main office today and I have not heard how that went yet.  You have to feel sorry for anyone that is out in the snow when the state patrol had closed several roads and we were on accident alert because they could not respond to an accident unless it was an injury accident involving life and death injuries.

The rurals had 3 accidents last Monday and one was an injury fall.  Tell me how they are saving money by endangering employees and then paying for the vehicles and medical care.  Tell me how they are saving money by paying me a 46K at Step 12, several hours of overtime instead of paying my sub straight time.

Stupid is as stupid does.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Years Day off.

I just got my pay stub and noticed that I managed to earn an enormous 22 minutes of Chistmas Overtime.  YAHOO ! ! !

I hope the managers and superviors that worked hard to "screw" most of the carriers in our craft out of any overtime we managed to earn, enjoy their year end bonuses.

One of my subs managed to earne several HOURS of overtime.  I am happy for him, but at the same time, the regulars are the biggest losers in this farce that is in our contract.
