A_P created this per my request.

I wanted a place where we could discuss and review movies we like or hate. You can notify others of new movies you know that are coming up or being released. This includes movies for TV. You can bring up any movie you want from any era. Please don't reveal too much of the plot and definitely don't reveal the ending. If someone wants more detailed inf that might be a spoiler you can just email the person.
I ask that you limit yourself to one movie per post. I just don't want someone posting a whole grocery list of movies. That way everyone gets a chance to bring up and discuss a movie they like. If movies are related i.e. "Lord of the Rings" that would be okay.
If any of you are even interested in this topic then please feel free to suggest other rules or changes you think would make this better.

I was going to start a review but I'm falling asleep.

Good idea, LuvLuke!!  Depending on how much a movie is discussed, you might want to set-up a sub-forum for each movie that becomes popular, like a_p did for Other TV Shows and Soaps Forum.   Take a look at that format to see if you would like something like that.  I would wait to see what kind of response you get, to get a feel for which movies would elicit several comments from members of this board.

You might want to give an idea of what kind of subjects that you would like discussed about a movie, such as: the characters, plot points, meaning of movie, what was the greatest impact, etc.  In other words give people an idea of what to discuss.

Good luck!

Great idea, LL!! It'll especially make it easy to look up movies discussed on the board when you're ready to go rent them, etc.

May start one myself...

Thanks! I'm not sure about a sub-forum since I just asked a_p if it was okay to set this up. I'm not that familiar with how it works.
Thanks for the suggestions. I want people to write about anything they like. It just should be about a movie or an actor in a movie. It could even be about the music. You don't need to worry about what you say or how you say it. You don't need to provide a critique. You can simply say "I liked the movie" or how it made you feel. You can just read through the posts to see if there is a movie that might interest you and you can look for or ask for more info on it.
I of course will usually be writing about movies with gay themes. I do watch other genres and I will bring those up as well.
If anything I would at least like to point out movies that people might otherwise miss. That was the main reason I wanted this forum so that movies get as wide an audience as they can and that people see movies they may never have known about.

Thanks! I hope that you do have movies you can share. Since you are an actor etc. it would great to hear about what you have to say.
In fact I was thinking about you because I read an article in a gay mag about Nick Adams. He was in the  musical "A Chorus Line". He is supposed to be very good and it doesn't hurt that he is gay and hot. So do you have any info on him?....lol

A sub-forum would be a further break-down of the movies forum, expressly dedicated to a certain movie.  a_p can set them up for you and move topics under a given movie, if more than one topic develops under a given movie.  For example, someone might talk about a specific character of a movie, someone else may give a critique of a movie, someone else may talk about another character, someone else may talk about that particular movie  made them feel, etc.  This kind of organization keeps all the topics about one movie clustered together about a certain movie.  This keeps them together so everyone can see what everyone else is talking about that relates to the same movie.  It is just a suggestion, you can do whatever you want.

I think you have a good idea.  I may read about a movie, I didn't know about and I get to read how others feel about it, and may decide if it is worth seeing or not.  Thanks a lot!!  Good luck!!

I will be forever indebted to you for recommending Shelter. That was just the sweetest, most heartwarming movie. I love it!

I, unfortunately, watch mostly mainstream movies. I can give you great reviews on those and you guys can clue me in on the really good stuff that I wouldn't normally run across.

Speaking of Brad Pitt, I saw The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Very long..2:45 min but well worth it. The makeup and special effects were amazing. I literally could not believe I was watching Brad Pitt as an old man. The face kind of resembled him underneath all the wrinkles but his body was small and stooped. It was crazy.

Brad's acting was phenomenal, I think his best yet. It's hard to believe he's could be so great in this film and then have Burn After Reading on his resume (it sucked).

I've just watched "Save Me". It stars Chad Allen, Robert Gant and Judith Light. I think it is a great movie. The two male leads are both out gay actors and Judith Light is a great actress who is a staunch supporter of the gay community. Both Allen and Gant are favorites of mine. They are commited to getting gay films produced and made.

The story is about Mark, a young gay man spiraling downward quickly. Addicted to sex and drugs he can no longer connect with anything or anyone. His brother sends him to a "retreat" where they believe they can change your sexual orientation through religion. The retreat is run by Gayle and her husband. The retreat is totally voluntary and you can leave whenever you like. Mark decides to stay. He finds himself attracted to Scott, another member of the group. Scott is in the retreat to try and please his father. Mark begins to heal through religion and his relationship with Gayle but he can't deny his growing feelings for Scott. Of course Gayle tries to keep them apart but not just to prevent any backsliding. Ironically Gayle is helping Mark not only to heal but to accept himself and develop a new-found confidence.
The movie is centered around these three characters and their relationship as human beings as opposed to religion vs gay.
The movie has some faults but the chemistry and and acting by the three leads compensate for all of them. All the characters grow and change. There are funny moments and happy moments and there are also heartbreaking moments. The last scenes with Scott, Mark and Gayle are great but Gayle's final scene was beautiful. I really felt for this woman. A great film in it's own way.

It was just released and is available at Netflix. I didn't see it at Blockbuster. I bought my copy from Amazon.

It is a quiet film. I found it very subtle in conveying it's message.

LL, that was really something as I just watched it last night, I thought it was a good movie. Wasn't Scott, Ben in QasF?

Yes, Deane, Robert Gant (Scott) was in Queer as Folk as Ben!  LL hasn't been around for a while, so that is why I answered your question, Deane.

Sounds like a good movie to see.  All three lead actors are favorites of mine.
