I live in the East Bay, CA and do many trackdays down here at Infineon and Thunderhill Raceway.  My parents live up in that direction so i make the trip up Hwy. 97 quit a bit and have always wondered when they were going to put a track up there, and it finally happened!!!

My question:  Anyone have a list of the Trackday Providers that do motorcycles?  I saw a link to Cascade Tracktime (www.castcadetracktime.com) but was curious if there was any others?  I'm looking to get a group of folks to come up and try the new track, since it looks like a combination between Thunderhill and Infineon!!!  Technical but FAST!

Any info would be appreciated!

Nice bike!  I do believe I may have seen you there.  You wouldn't have noticed mine as it is a totally non-descript, no graphics, all red CBR1000RR but you might have noticed an old Airstream parked on the new concrete pad by turn one?

Dear Robert,

Thank you for the information on who you and how you role :-).  Sounds like you guys have a good program for growing as riders.  How did your friend do last weekend?

What I have going is...

I've been riding pretty much my entire life in one capacity or another,, love motorcycles - off road, street, roadracing, touring the whole spectrum.

For the last five or so years I have worked at understanding specific needs of each rider  who  I have worked with at the track.  One of my best friends is really involved with ORP and is working with me on a product to make the track more accessible, safer, and more purpose driven than what's presently available from schools or other track day groups.

In a nut shell, we have curriculum but riding is pretty subjective -so each person would be evaluated and delivered what they need,, or we aren't doing our job.  The net result is you and we will take every step to get you to the next level or through the next level of growth.

Anyway, still pretty vague I'm sure.  Presently access besides private days.. we"re putting dates together  with Palatov Motorsports and run one twenty minute session per hour during their days,, seven sessions.  Part of my business model will include what I'm calling a scholarship program where the day would be free but you work with me to prove out a couple instruction models.  It is a win win for both rider and instructor and will hopefully get you to return -  I'll keep you posted on that as well.

Does this help a little?

Very best,
Rob

Ps I grew up in Moraga and rode my brains out on Pinehurst, Grizzly Peak, Skyline, etc..

Rob,

Sorry about the late reply.  Been super busy lately.

My buddy did great last weekend in the races.  He placed 7 out of 9 in the Clubman Heavyweights (1000cc+ beginner class) and 23 of 27 in Open Superbike (Big Boys) and last place on Open Superbike (another of the big boys)...but he dropped his lap times over the weekend a total of 5 seconds off his best, so it was great progress for him to build on for next round.

I am very interested in your instruction program.  It sounds like it has a lot of potential.  I have in the past gone through Zoom Zoom Trackdays instruction program, Keigwins at the Track Instruction, and Pacific Tracktimes Instruction.  Its interesting to see the difference in the different providers instruction regimen and process.  All are very good and work very hard to help a rider get better.  Pacific Tracktime's is the best if your trying to get into racing as they have Corey Call (AMA #62) helping with instruction.  Zoom Zoom Trackdays is the best if you want to become a better all around rider on the track and street.  Keigwins is a very laid back and helps a ride work on smoothness instead of speed.

Getting some solid days on when you will be holding these events would be essential in trying to get a couple people to come up with me.  Right now I am looking at 8/1-8/2 with NESBA, just because it looks to be the soonest date I can make it up there.  The "free" tracktime that you speak of would intrigue a few folks as well.  Who doesn't want to ride for free?? :-)

I look forward to speaking with you more about what your trying to set up and helping anyway I can!

Thats awesome you are from the area.  I live in Pleasant Hill.  I for one hate Grizzly Peak, just because its really rough and unpredictable with debris.  But I love Redwood!  We do a Lake Berryessa ride along Wooden Valley Rd/Hwy 121/Hwy 128/Butts Canyon Rd almost every weekend.  But the police are starting to tighten up and causing us to "go slow." HAHA

Talk to you soon,
Robert

Phil - It was great to meet you.  Too bad I wasn't able to get any laps in with you.  I was just starting to get the track down, and really picking up my speed...then Turn 3 decided to eat me.  That was too bad because I'm sure Sunday had to been a blast.  Did 2-fast decide to do an open day?  Did they run clockwise or counter-clockwise on Sunday?

Yeah, I saw your vbike on the trailer as you were pulliong out Saturday and was terribly disappointed.  I always hate to see people leave early due to mishaps.  And especially you since it was your first time at ORP and a damned long drive to get here.  Thanks for coming.  I've got a few TH days scheduled in August and September and I'll watch for you.   The Airstream just got replaced by a motorhome so watch for the non-descript all red CBR instead, probably still at the new concrete pad outside of T1.
