Fellow PSC members,

after long discussions, according to our (yet proposed) rules
of voting [1], I motion that the GRASS CVS server be migrated
into SVN server on OSGeo infrastructure as well as the bug tracker
be migrated to Trac on OSGeo infrastructure.

Rationale and background information to compare the current
solution to the proposed solution:
 http://grass.gdf-hannover.de/wiki/SVN_hosting

Vote closure:
 Sunday, 21 October 2007, 23:59 UTC.

I'll collate votes and present the result to the PSC (with cc to the
grass-dev list) on Monday, Oct. 22th 2007.

Best regards,
Markus

+1 for moving to SVN on the OSGEO servers. I think that this will provide
excellent flexibility for developers / non-devs (like myself) who like to
follow along with what is going on. Personal experiences with SVN and Trac
have been very good.

While I'm not unhappy with the current setup, moving to OSGeo seems like a
good idea for both technical and organizational reasons.

+ 1 for SVN & Trac on OSGeo server.

- I wish to thanks to Intevation for all these years of perfect service.
- The OSGeo solution seems to me in accordance with respect to the
collaborative growth of OSGeo.
- I consider both SVN and Trac excellent solutions.

+0 from me:
        - I highly support moving to SVN,
        - low personal knowledge re: GForge vs Trac,
        - have never used Trac myself and can't properly research it right now,
so am happy to "mildly support" others' conclusions

Cheers,
Scott

I think RFC3 needs to be substantially reworked before a vote. I had
thought that I had sent an email to the PSC listing some ideas about
that, but can't find it now. (I'm pretty sure the ideas never
materialized into a patch, & it lingers on my to-do list)

CVS -> SVN seems a technical decision, with wide support on the -dev list,
so I support that.

Moving the SCM to OSGeo seems like a nice step to take in GRASS's
integration into the OSGeo group, and with the added bonus of the linked
Trac bug tracker, I think the move will be helpful to our workflow as
well. GDAL has already done the move, so we can draw on their experience.

So +1 in support of Markus's migration motion and cheers to Intevation
for the many years of service.

FWIW I consider the Wiki to be another matter to be discussed on another
thread after this vote is done & dealt to.

Hamish

This motion has passed with support from Dylan, Michael,
Helena, Massimiliano, Hamish, Maciek and myself.
Scott with +0 (mild support).

We would like to express our big thanks to Intevation, Germany,
for the many years of service (GRASS CVS and bugtracker).

We will now start with the migration plan.
Further details may be worked out in the GRASS Wiki and
the developers list.

Best regards,
Markus
