I'm thinking about modifying a USB mini plug by adding the actual USB
plug into the middle of some other plug, then hardwiring the other
(presumably outer) plug's pins to always receive USB power, thus
sidestepping the whole USB standards compliance issue. Any suggestion
on what the other plug should be?
