Meeting?!

Hi there,

I'm not sure the DFEY-NW meeting scheduled to take place tomorrow is
worth it at the moment to be honest.

Currently there are 2 people signed up in the registration system at
http://dfey-nw-5.eventbrite.com/ not including me. This makes 3 of us.

Considering that on average only half of the people who sign themselves
up actually turn up, we're looking at a meeting with so few people I'm
not sure it's worth it taking place.

Considering that this date was definitely best on the online poll
http://doodle.com/zterfyc796rhmkkz and the large number of people on the
mailing list it's a little distressing. :-/

For those who make the effort to turn up, especially from a distance
it's very disheartening and for those organisation(s) who want to
support us it also reduces the likelihood of them helping us again.
The BBC for one has told me it can not sustain meetings of this size and
I completely sympathize - meeting.

Sorry for the Friday afternoon rant, but something needs to be resolved.
Sadly I don't know how or what.

Any suggestions welcome...

Tim

Ah, it' a shame, for sure.

I'm not sure if this applies for everyone, but perhaps the lack of enthusiasm for this meeting in particular could be put down to the fact that it's exam time? I know me and Ben have exams on Tuesday, and these meetings would mean cutting out revision time. So maybe it's just a short term problem.

You may be right. I think a meeting during the Summer holidays would be
more successful, considering exams will have ended. I also plan on
travelling to a meeting if one takes place during the holidays (and
someone lends me a sofa to sleep on); and I'm certain that my making an
appearance will enthuse a lot of people into coming along...

No?

I personally think that after the exams finish, more people will be
willing to come but i think Tim is in a difficult position wanting
DFEY to plan for the unconference in july. Maybe late june early july
would be the best time for a meeting?
