lee,

my apologies - i inadvertently replied to John directly instead of to the list.
Original response below. Those of you in the US - Happy Thanksgiving!

John,

We've been developing custom adapters to various data feeds on an
ongoing per-customer request basis. So far, none of our direct
customers have been using Reuters, that we know of (however, since
Marketcetera is open-source, it's quite possible that someone has done
this and never told us).

Let me know if you'd like to work with us in developing the Reuters
feed adapter, or if you need any help getting started if you do it on
your own.

thanks.

I am just starting to investigate the Marketcetera platform.  We use Reuters for market data so I would like some tips on how to go about building a market data adapter for Reuters.

Thanks. Mick

Mick,

I don't think anybody has built a market-data adapter yet. I know that
someone has successfully got Marketcetera Platform certified for
Reuters RTEX, but i don't think they are using market data yet.

I'd be happy to work with you on getting this to work. Do you have any
Reuters docs you can share? Is this a FIX-based stream or is it a
completely proprietary format?

thanks.

I'm just exploring how this might be done for now.  To answer your
question, Reuters market data is encode in a proprietary format - not
FIX.  Can you point me to the Java package(s) in the source tree that I
can browse to get a feel for how you are capturing quotes?

Thanks. Mick

Mick,

Take a look at the org.marketcetera.marketdata package at
http://trac.marketcetera.org/trac.fcgi/browser/platform/trunk/core/src/main/java/org/marketcetera/marketdata

It's essentially a collection of interfaces and abstract classes for
implementing FIX-based market data adapters. We wrote the simulated
Marketcetera datafeed based on FIX, and Photon (the GUI client) has an
adapter implemented for it at
http://trac.marketcetera.org/trac.fcgi/browser/client/photon/trunk/plugins/org.marketcetera.marketdata/src/main/java/org/marketcetera/marketdata

We've implemented the Currenex adapter for our customers in the
similar fashion, but we can't open-source it yet for licensing
reasons.

Let me know if you have any questions, i'd be happy to work closely
with you on developing the Reuters adapter.
