MapServer blog?

Just poking around planet osgeo (not much of a reader myself) and noticed all the project
team blogs and wondered if we should do something like that for the devs and PSC to
communicate a bit more casually. Thoughts?

+1.  I think this is a great idea.  I remember we discussed this on IRC awhile back.  Perhaps a rule of one post per month for devs/PSC.  I wonder how much effort it would be to setup a simple WordPress (or something) blog (blog.mapserver.org?).

Dunno on the setup part. I checked wordpress.com and the username 'mapserver' is taken
although if you visit 'mapserver.wordpress.com' you'll find the content is related to MapServer
and seems to have been abandoned. I figure at a minimum content that we put in our announcement's
column would make reasonable blog entries, not to mention specific content...

+1 to the idea.

How about this one, or something like this?
http://trac-hacks.org/wiki/TracBlogPlugin

Best regards,

Tamas

I like the idea. Not sure about the implementation details though:
should it be a single blog where multiple devs or PSC members post, or
an aggregator of some sort? I'm not familiar enough with the way blog
systems work to advise on the best way to go.

It would be ideal to be able to define a blog group based on OSGeo ids. That way we could control
who has access. I'd actually like to tap power users to write short how-to articles. We could be
opportunistic based on activity on the mailing list. Anyone know if there's a standard blog tool that's
part of the OSGeo intrastructure or if trying something like the trac extension Tamas mentioned is
feasible?
