I've been taking Lyrica for ages....
I've managed to cut down from 600 mg a day to 400mg. It gives me scope for when the pain is really stupid.
I must say I've never fallen asleep on the loo...... not quite....

Buffy thats good idea taking lass then upping it when you need it i cant do that as im only on 100 mg three times a day im thinking of going back and telling her they are not doing anything for the pain now well done Buffy

Weight gain on them is a problem. I think Nikki came off them for that reason.
I've just cut all dairy products out of my diet and that seems to have helped, I;ve lost 9lbs without dieting.
I'm still very heavy but at least it's no going up anymore.
I still get pain (quite a lot mostly) but i don't get the burning pains or stabbing sensations. I am too scared to stop it completely in case they come back with a vengence!
Not all meds act in the same way.....on different  people. But the weight gain seems to be a common thread!

Yes Honey I came off them for the weight gain as I piled on the weight and they made me eat like a pig.  I couldn't satisfy my hunger, I could never feel full. I found that in the end they didn't help with the pain. they were great at first don't get me wrong but over time i was taking a higher dose with no effect so I stopped them after talking to the gp.

Nikki, I get episodes like that, where I just can't stop eating.... nothing satisfies.
Have you lost any of the weight since stopping them ?
Honey hope the Gp can help.

I'm sorry to hear that Lyrica didn't work for you. I'm aiming to reduce  mine a bit more.  I've done nothing but eat for the last few days.
Oops.

Hey Honey, how did you do with stopping the Lyrica? Was it easy and are you any better without it? I can't get below 400mg without feeling dreadful, all weak and feeble. My GP has give me 100mg capsules now to see if I can take it to 300mg.

Hiya Buffy

i didn't have a problem coming off them but i don't think i had been on long enough to give me withdrawal
effects   and to be honest im no different on or off them so it seems like they were not  working much either
i think ive tried most things now but no joy but im going to have to go back and see the doc as i am in so much pain all i am taking is tramodol and paracetamol  which are not touching it i dont know what else to ask for

sorry you cant come off them Buffy is the capsule instead of the tab or as well as i hope you get it sorted by the way what will you take instead or try and do without altogether  ive just tried that and no way would i recommend it to anyone  lol   my doc is really good i told her about this site ans she said try and find out what other people take for  fm and she will try it  she said she is gonna do some tests to find out why things are not working on me as any one else would be spaced out on the doses i have and they do not touch me lol i said i have always been greedy when i got to the Dentist i have to have two injections as the first doesnt work

Hey Girls, was reading your posts and decided to jump in. I take lyrcia 1800 mg daily and my pain is sometimes unbearable. doctor says it is best but why does it not work. even tramadol does nothing for my pain. i have gained lots of weight and swelling in my hands and feet and face is to the point I just stay in bed most of the time. I am going to doc. first of march and hopefully there is something else that can be done. I cry so much the pain is so bad.

Thanks for listening and for your information it helped give me an idea of what others are going through.

Thanks

Hi there Elaine,

I don't take meds for the fibro now but understand that the side effects can be hard to live with. How long have you been taking them? Whats your fibro history?

Hi.... New and wanted to say, I have nerve damage and I think Lycria works well as both a physical and mental pain reliever. My injury was caused by a violent attack that left me physicaly and mentally injured.
Ive been on Lycria, 300mg for 6 months, and it has been the best pain reliever Ive been prescribed.
