Linux version of Marketcetera Platform 1.0?

When will I be able to download a Linux version of the Marketcetera
Platform 1.0.0. There hasn't been a Linux version available on the
Marketcetera web site since 0.5.0, which was released in July 2008!  I
am disappointed that Windows releases have taken priority over Linux.
Linux, in my opinion, is a far better platform for running and
developing applications with Marketcetera components than is Windows.
I hope to see Linux get at least equal treatment in the future so that
the Linux releases will be available at the same time as the Windows
release.

Thanks.

Mick,

We will absolutely support Marketcetera on Linux going forward. the
1.0 we have out right now is more of a preview, the full commercial
release will be early next year and will definitely have a Linux
version as well.

I'l llet you know when that becomes available.

Anthony,

Thanks for second vote.

I left out an important detail: while we get the Linux version through
the full QA cycle, you can certainly checkout and build and run it
directly from SVN.
You can find the instructions at
http://www.marketcetera.org/confluence/display/MDN/Building%20Marketcetera%20Platform

Hi Toli,

Happy new year by the way and congratulations to you guys for reaching
1.0.0 milestone. I was just reading these thread and saw your response
to stated that "The full COMMERCIAL release" of Marketcetera will be
release early next year. Our organisation is a small firm with limited
budget and we only ever use open source application hence the reason for
adopting OMS/ORS. Our interest has always been only in the OMS
application and not the GUI applications.

I would like you to clarify if Marketcetera will become commercial
application so that I can start looking for a replacement or not.

Regards

Bob King

Babashola,

Happy New Year to you as well.
Sorry for the confusion. Marketcetera will remain open source going
forward. The commercial aspect just means that we'll start offering
full commercial support for those that choose to have Marketcetera
support the platform, instead of doing it themselves. The commercial
offering will include support (with different levels of service-level
agreements), Professional Services, and additional services on top of
the Marketcetera Platform (such as market data adapters).
The underlying trading platform will always remain open source, so for
those that choose not to use the commercially supported version the
open source version will always be an option.
This is very similar to what JBoss, MySQL and many other commercial
open source software companies offer.

So I certainly hope that you would remain a Marketcetera user and
provide us with valuable feedback going forward.
