Limit the portal-breadcrumbs

How can i get a limit of levels in the portal-breadcrumbs?
i would like to view as maximun the first one, the second one, and the third level even if i'm navigating in the level 4, or 5 or 6...

I think this is more of a programming question. All I can say is that you’d have to subclass the path_bar.pt file from the plone.app.layout package, but I don’t know the Python code to suggest here. Maybe try the plone-users list?
