Keyboard problems with Java OpenGL library LWJGL when running SCIM

Hi,

I'm developing programs in Java using LWJGL library for OpenGL support.
I have had a lot of problems with the keyboard as there was no input
from it.
I found out that the reason for it was SCIM. It starts by default on my
system (Ubuntu 8.10). When I turn it off or just reload it once, the
keyboard in LWJGL works perfectly.

Way to reproduce the problem :
- Use Linux (i.e. Ubuntu) with SCIM Japanese input method launched by
default at startup
- Download LWJGL 2.0.1 following the instructions on
http://lwjgl.org/installation.php
- Test keyboard input with the org.lwjgl.test.input.KeyboardTest
example. The white shape will not move when hitting the keys. If you
turn the example off, turn off SCIM (just reloading it works too) and
then try again, it will work.

Im not sure if the problem is in SCIM or LWJGL (or generally SCIM and
Java), but for sure there is some interface problem with their
combination so I decided to post this problem also here.

Environment Im using is LWJGL 2.0.1, Java 1.6, Ubuntu 8.10, SCIM 1.4.6

Thanks
