I performed with the collaboration of Guido Russo, the translation
of the program Audacity in Italian. It is based on the file pot 09/2009 because
I met some problems with pot file10/2009 - Fuzzy translated strings do not
appear in Italian, but remain in English.

Thanks for the updated .po file based on the previous audacity.pot; that's a great improvement over the previous translation. I've committed that. Using poedit 1.4.2, I agree when I updated the committed .po file with the 18/10/2009 audacity.pot file and made some translations of the fuzzy strings, the saved .mo file did not produce the translations in Audacity. I don't know what the problem is at the moment because the fr.po file updated from the latest audacity.pot seems to produce the new translations in Audacity OK. Attached is the committed it.po, updated from the latest audacity.pot, anyway. Thanks Gale ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Come build with us! As stated in the e-mail 10/20/2009 I am having problems updating the last
file. pot of Audacity. Strings fuzzy after the update of the translation at run of the program remain in English. My system uses Windows Vista updated with the latest service pack. I am attaching the relative file it.po. I need help. Hi Carmelo The translated lines have got to be unmarked as fuzzy, then they will appear as translated in Audacity. Are you using poedit? I don't know how this happened, but if you were using poedit and loaded the fuzzy translations, then actually translating the string (or even adding a space and removing it if you did not want to change the string) would automatically unmark it as fuzzy. Here is the .po file again (now 100% translated, 0% fuzzy) and the .mo file compiled from it for use in Audacity (rename it to Audacity.mo as usual). If you confirm this now works for you, I'll commit that fully translated po file. Hi Gale
Probably I have not explained it well! First I am using Poedit! Well, after I updated the file it.po with the latest file it.pot, I have translated the new strings and the fuzzy strings. So now they are all translated! I saved the file and I got the new file it.mo that renamed Audacity.mo and that I put it in the folder "it" of the folder Languages by Audacity. I problem is that now the entries corresponding to the original lines fuzzy (but now translated) appear in English in Audacity and not in Italian. The problem also appears in other computer with Windows. I think I have explained in detail the problem. Also this was not the case with the previous file it.pot (September 2009). Is there a solution? What version of poedit are you using? The .po file you sent me was corrupted somehow, because the strings should not remain as fuzzy once you have translated them. Poedit should automatically remove the fuzzy marking from a fuzzy string when you have translated it. Have you looked at the .po file I attached? I converted all the fuzzy strings to translated. As I said, it is 100% translated (so, when you open it in poedit, there will be no fuzzy strings). Work from that .po file in future. Have you tried the .mo file I attached in Audacity? Please do so. When I put that .mo file in Audacity the preferences are translated perfectly to Italian. As I said, the fr.po file still translates fine after updating from the latest pot. Hi Gale
Use Poedit 1.4.2 but I also tried the version 1.4.3 without success. I tried the file . mo you sent me but it has the same problem. All items of preferences to the strings fuzzy translated remain in English while the others are in regular Italian.
