Installing with a another FIX service instead of the marketcetera FIX service

Is it easy to install with another FIX provider. I have a FIX account with a forex provider and Id like to use this with MarketCetera. Is this possible?

How could i test that the connection works after I put the settings in OMS.xml.

What is the relation between the market feed in photon and the oms system configuration.

Toni,

You can definitely do that. You will need to modify the oms.xml (in
the conf directory) to point to your FIX destination.
Are you doing this on the appliance or on a stand-alone installation of the OMS?

If your broker has a set of custom FIX fields, you can create a custom
FIX dictionary and specify that as well. you can modify the FIX
connection parameters in the quickfixj.xml file if neeeded as well.

You'll need to modify the beans corresponding to the connection parameters.

We've had quite a few users do this for Currenex, for example - let me
know if you run into any issues and i'll be happy to walk you through
it. You can call us at 415-398-2644 if needed.

With respect to Photon market data feed - there's absolutely no
connection between that and the OMS. The market data feed has its own
separate connection to the data feed simulator on the Marketcetera
site - that's driven by the Photon configuration in
http://trac.marketcetera.org/trac.fcgi/wiki/Marketcetera/ConfiguringMarketData

Note that we are releasing a a new 0.5.0 version of Marketcetera some
time next week, which will have a Windows installer that will install
all the underlying components (order-routing server, Marketcetera
core, Tradebase, MySQL) and should be much easier to configure - we
moved the common configuration bits out so that you don't have to deal
with XML files anymore.
