Increase time standard for parcels to 2 min.
YOUR NAME Debbi

ISSUES TIME STANDARDS

YOUR IDEA OR CHANGE change the time to deliver a parcel to 2 minutes instead of 30 seconds

WHY DO YOU WANT TO CHANGE IT It is impossible to roll up your window, turn off the car, lock it,walk to the door wait for answer if there is no sake place to leave it and go back to the car in 30 seconds. the USPS didn't allow any of the small things that used to be parcels count in this mail count nor the "do not bend" items. these are all flats now. we need more time
Never doubt that a small, group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has..

I am certainly with you on this one.

There is no way to safely deliver a package doing all of the aforementioned items in 30 seconds. Not only that, but what of the case of having to deliver a package to a home that is technically off the line of travel (a line of mailboxes on the road with all of the houses down another road).
Yes, we are to go up to one-half mile one-way to deliver, but we are not compensated for doing this, even though it is our job to deliver the packages. For me, in this case, if it will not fit in a standard size mailbox, then we should get at least two minutes. All other parcels that will fit would qualify for the 30-second standard.

Personally, I'd like to see some of those members of management who have never delivered mail a day in their lives try to adhere to some of the outdated standards they like to try and enforce. I'd like to say they would see the light, but they are so brainwashed, I doubt it would register.

It's a good idea, but I think we should keep smaller parcels at 30 sec.  The ones that actually fit in the box.  The 30 sec, is for office and street time.  It would be easier for the Post office to accept it don't you think?

Nice idea, but will never happen, it would be great if we could get just another 15 secs.

I think a realistic figure for to-the-door parcels is 2 minutes, and 30 seconds for less than mailbox size parcels. But this would require creating a new (for rurals) category of parcels (SPRs?). I think it would be reasonable to start negotiations asking for 2 minutes for all, and settle for the two categories.  I'll give this one the Green.

Although we may not be able to get it changed this way, maybe we should target management as to pinning down how long we are required to stand and wait at the door to see if a patron is home.

If we are givin something stating 45 seconds, or something similar, then they will be opening the door for us to have that time added to accountables, parcels, postage dues, etc..  anything requiring us to go to a door and knock.

Management uses the backdoor on us all the time, maybe it is our turn!
