Hey Doc team-
We have some end of year deadlines that we are in danger of missing.
If you have time over the holidays/end of the year/start of new year,
please let me know!
We need help with the following tasks:
- Section Assessments
   - Configuration and Set Up (almost done?)
   - Developing for Plone (almost done?)
   - Managing Content (half done?)
   - Navigation
   - Installation
   - Updating and Moving
   - Users, Authentication, and Permissions
   - i18n & l10n
- Documentation Guidelines for official and new knowledge base docs
- Process for starting new doc team members

If you can spare any time at all, email me and I will get you
instructions and every thing you need to work on these tasks. The
section assessments are top priority for us. We can't divide our
current doc section into formal and less formal sets until the
assessments are done. Our editors need your help to get these done.
Even if you can only spare an hour, it would help us out tremendously.
It will also be good karma and your fellow doc team members will love
and adore you for chipping in at the last minute.

So please please please chip in and help us make the final push
towards our deadlines!!

JoAnna

Since I've almost-almost finished my section asessment I think I could help with:
  • Managing Content (half done?)
  • Navigation
  • Documentation Guidelines for official and new knowledge base docs
  • Process for starting new doc team members
What's the current state of these tasks? Are Ambrin and Darci working on the two first asessments?

Thanks Israel, Kamon, Gustavo, and Alisha.
I will send you (and any others) info on how to get started either
today or Friday.  Actually, Israel and Alisha and Kamon, I think you
already know what's up. Gustavo, I'll get you filled in.

Yeah, but does this mean that the Managing Content and Navigation asessment hasn't started yet, or is the working copy of the chart available somewhere else, e.g. Google Docs?

Was the kb and official docs guidelines draft doc already started somewhere?

Could we chat about these two last topics sometime?

Let me get my internets back up and I'll reply with a full answer.
Working copy of managing content is in a google doc. Darci can give you rights.

Ok, internets are back.

it has been started and is in a google doc. Darci can give anyone
access. I have Alisha working on this if someone else wants to tackle
the Navigation chunk.
I'm assuming it the others aren't in our wiki, then they haven't been started.

Yup. Need to finish this. I'm open to ideas. Israel, I know you had
some thoughts on mentoring that we could probably incorporate here.
Ideally, I'd like all editors to look at this and share thoughts.

> Was the kb and official docs guidelines draft doc already started somewhere?
We have a basic doc on plone.org that we could/should use as the basis
for this. No thoughts on the knowledge base just yet have been written
down.
http://plone.org/documentation/tutorial/creating-documentation-for-plone.org

I'd like to draft something in the wiki and then add to this page.

> Could we chat about these two last topics sometime?
Yes. I don't see you online now but I'll be available later tonight
(which probably doesn't help those in europe) or hopefully all day on
Friday.

For those that have volunteered and those that are still wondering how
much is involved, here are some instructions on completing the section
assessments.

1. Find your assessment chart.
http://www.openplans.org/projects/plone-documentation/project-home
Some are right in the wiki, others are in google docs. For those that
are google docs, email the list and we'll get you access to edit that
doc.

2. Find your section on Plone.org. You will need to have doc team
access because some docs are not published and they need to be
evaluated too. If you do not already have access, ask in #plone or
email the list.

3. Each doc in the section should be listed in the assessment chart.
(if it's not on the chart, add it).
Read the doc on plone.org. Locate it on the chart.

4. Go across the columns and mark where it applies. Does it work for
all Plone versions on all platforms? Or does it only apply to Windows
on Plone 2.5? If it doesn't apply to a certain operating system or
plone version, write Not Applicable.

5. Rate the doc. Red means it's pitiful. Yellow means it's usable but
needs work. Green means it's good (might still need a little work but
is mostly accurate).

6. Add comments. You don't have to but most of the editors have done
this. You can write anything about what needs to be fixed, if you
think we should get rid of the doc, or if it should be a formal doc or
in the knowledge base. Any little bit helps.

If you want to see an example of what a finished chart should look
like, look at any of the assessments that are marked as Done in the
wiki.

All section assessments are now listed and have charts started. All we
need you to do is fill in the blanks by reading the docs. Some
sections are big, but others are small. Please email me or the list,
tell me how much time you have, when you want to get started and I
will assign you a chunk to work on.

Thank you all for helping us out!!

J.
