IOError: [Errno 2] No usable temporary directory found in ['/tmp', '/var/tmp', '/usr/tmp', '/opt/Plone-3.0.5buildout']

I accidentally allowed my server to fill up all its diskspace. I freed
up the diskspace so that dozens of GBs are now available.

However, now when I try to restart my Plone instances I get the
following error:

IOError: [Errno 2] No usable temporary directory found in ['/tmp', '/
var/tmp', '/usr/tmp', '/opt/Plone-3.0.5my instance']

Does anyone know what might cause this error? Thanks.

As indicated on IRC: something with your tmp directories (see list below) is wrong - like
a permission problem or something similar. Looking at the code of tempfile.py and using the debugger tells *you* more (your system - we can not guess what's wrong).

Thanks for helping. I fixed the problem by adding the following to
buildout.cfg and running bin/buildout:

environment-vars =
    PYTHON_EGG_CACHE ${buildout:directory}/var/.python-eggs
    TMPDIR ${buildout:directory}/var/tmp
