IE7 bug (position)

Hi all,

As many ones, I have a bug with IE... But only with IE7. tests with IE5.5 and IE6 are ok.

I use Shadowbox in "inline" mode to display a form. A static page is done here.

I read all posts in this forum about ie bugs and I know the DOCTYPE is important. If a validated Doctype is applied, the bug is solved.

However, all the web site is built with the current doctype (a unvalidate one, so IE is in Quirks mode). I can not change this Doctype without break all web site design. (the move to validate doctype will be done in several month)

Is there an issue to make Shadowbow usefull through all IE versions in Quirks mode ?

Thks,

Fab.

Not only is it important that there be a valid doctype (find them at alistapart), there can be nothing above the doctype.

I had an html comment above the doctype, and it was breaking Shadowbox in IE6+7.

Thanks bklocek,

I have already done this test : remove comments before Doctype (cause the Doctype must be the first instruction in the page to be valid). However, as my Doctype is not a valid (none dtd attached), IE is always in Quirks mode.
I remove the comment and the "bug" is still visible.

Shadowbox is not supported in Quirks mode. If you want to get it to work properly, you need to figure out how to get IE7 to use Strict mode. You don't have to attach the dtd, just link to it. The AListApart article should explain everything just fine.

Unfortunatly, neither Shadowbox neither Lightwindow support Quirks mode.

I still trying to fix this. If someone has an idea...
