| I bought new computer. It's with vista. I used your great program before.
| Downloaded it again and experiencing some troubles. I mean, I can't choose
| Line In, or Microphone, or....options in that mixer bar where it used to be,
| coz it's empty. I checked FAQ and there's mention to set it up in Audacity
| preferences in Audio I/O, but there's no Line In option eithere. Just some
| Microphone, Microsoft Sound Mapper and Wave Out Mix.
Did you follow the link on the FAQ to the Wiki page on Mixer Toolbar
issues?
http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Mixer_Toolbar_IssuesAs it confirms there, the Mixer Toolbar selector under Vista will always be
greyed out. If you need line-in, please go to Sound in the Windows Control
Panel and try to enable and then select line-in there, and turn its input
volume up. Exit and restart Audacity, and try to record from the line-in now.
This is explained at Section 3.3 "Using the Control Panel" in the above
Wiki page.
If you cannot get any input (or you can't enable line-in so as to select it)
then you will need to update the computer's sound device drivers to the
latest ones for your computer model made by the manufacturer of the
device or motherboard. This means making sure the drivers are not generic
Microsoft drivers, and that they are meant for your version of Vista. There is
help on doing this here:
