How to Use Geoserver with uDig

It's taken me awhile but I've got Geoserver running.  It was my understanding that I could use it to serve up layers and features and I could somehow access it from within uDig.  Is this correct?

I am running Version: 1.2-M7 and after I start up Geoserver, if I go to Layer/Add and choose web map server a progress bar appears, goes about halfway and I get an error message: Connect to a Web Feature Server to retrieve feature content over the web or An error occurred during page transition.  This is most likely a programming error.  Please report it.

If I go to web feature server I'm prompted to enter a URL.

Am I on the right track or mistaken?

Can someone explain how uDig and Geoserver are supposed to work together?

I'm running Fedora 11 linux.

Hi Tom - what you are asking is the subject of Walkthrough 2
(http://udig.refractions.net/confluence/display/EN/Walkthrough+2).

You did not mention it but I hope you are clicking on a link to a
"capabilities document" provided on the front page of your running
geoserver.  For details please review walkthrough 2.

I just tested again now using geoServer 1.7.6 and uDig 1.2-M7 in order
to ensure the links work.

If you want a quick example go to the "Web" view of UDig where several
WMS and WFS servers are listed.
