Setting: Evening, in the upstairs in the Snyder Home.
Holden knocks on Luke’s door
Holden: Luke, we are having dinner. Holden, notices the door to Luke's room is locked. Noah and Luke are inside, in bed, under the sheets, wrestling a bit.
Holden: Luke, everything alright?
Luke and Noah are interrupted and Luke tries not to sound like a guy in heat.
Luke: Everything is fine dad. I will be out in a while.
Holden: Alright, we are all waiting for you.
Luke and Noah get out of bed and gather their clothes in a frenzy.
Noah: If your parents find me here like this, they will kill me.
Luke: Calm down, everyone else is in the kithcen.
The two men sneak downstairs. After getting down to the living room, Noah attempts to sneak out the front door. Holden walks in from the kitchen door and notices Noah walking out. Holden is thrown for a bit, realizes what he must have interrupted then quickly recovers.
Holden: Noah, do you want to stay for dinner?
Noah: I don't want to intrude.
Holden: You are family now, it wouldn't be intruding.
Noah: Well with an offer like that, how can I refuse. Noah heads to the kitchen, Luke follows behind and is stopped by Holden.
Holden: After dinner, we need to talk.
Luke has a slight look of panic, each man knowing what they need to talk about head into dinner.
After dinner
Noah and Luke are in the living room cuddling on the couch. Holden walks in from upstairs.
Holden: Noah, would you mind if I had a few minutes alone with my son?
Noah: No, will just be in the kitchen helping clean up.
Holden goes and sits on the couch with Luke.
Holden: I know you are 19 almost 20 now, but you are still my son and I am a bit worried.
Luke knowing but not really wanting to discuss it
Luke: Worried about what?
Holden: There is no need to pretend, we both know what. You had the door locked upstairs and then Noah was sneaking out of the house. So, we need to talk about your sex life. What this your first time?
Luke: Dad, I am not trying to be rude but it’s not really any of your business.
Luke gets up and heads toward the kitchen. Holden goes to him.
Holden: When you are having sex in my house, around your sisters and brother, it becomes part of my business. I don’t want them walking in on something they shouldn’t know about yet. Also, I don’t want Natalie and Ethan asking questions. Faith is old enough to understand these things, but the other two are just too young.
Luke: Dad, I, we wouldn’t do anything to upset Nat, Faith, or Ethan.
Holden, takes a moment to breath and calm down.
Holden: I know you wouldn’t intentionally, but something might come up. I also know you are an adult, but I still worry about your safety. Are you using protection?
Luke: Dad!! Relenting a bit because he knows he won’t be able to avoid the conversation. Yes
Holden: Every time?
Luke: Yes! Look we know about safe sex. The reality is that I have never had sex until Noah, but I am still a little concerned because of the transfusions. Noah was with Maddie and was never tested afterwards. We plan to go to the county health department to get tested.
Holden: When?
Luke: We haven’t set a date, but soon.
Holden: Better sooner than later. There are other things out there than just HIV.
Luke: I know! I know you are worried, but we are being safe.
Holden: Ok, that’s really all I wanted to say.
Holden begins to head out of the living room.
Luke: Dad, I have to ask, did you ever have this conversation with Aaron? Or is it because I am gay that you are so concerned?
Holden: I will admit, I am little more worried because you are gay. But I did have a similar conversation with Aaron. I know certain activities in a gay relationship make it more likely for one to get a disease.
Luke: Oh God!! I am not telling you about the specifics of mine and Noah sex life.
Holden: Trust me, I don’t want to know the details, anymore than you want to know the details of your mother and mine’s.
Luke: Yuck!! I really did not need that image.
Holden laughs a bit
Holden: I am just concerned. Let me know when you get tested, ok?
Luke: Alright, I will.
Holden: I love you Luke.
Luke: I love you too dad.
The two men hug, then Holden heads upstairs. Noah comes back into the living room.
Noah: What was that all about?
Luke: My dad decided to grill me on the ins and outs of our sex life?
Noah: He did what?
Luke: He asked me if we were using protection. Then he began to ask about if we were getting tested and what positions we do?
Noah: Wow!! That’s too weird.
Luke: Tell me about it.
Noah: What did you tell him?
Luke: I told him we had sex, he had figured that part out already, figured there was no reason to lie. I also told him we were getting tested but hadn’t set a date and that the positions are none of his business. He basically told me that if we are going to do it here, to keep it to times when Natalie, Faith, and Ethan are not around. He is a little worried about them walking in, or asking questions.
Noah: Thank you for that.
Luke: For what?
Noah: Not telling your dad about the ins and outs of our sex life. I don’t think I could look at him again if I knew he knew what I was doing to his son.
Luke: You and me both!!
The two men embrace and kiss
Noah: How about we finish what we started upstairs at my dorm room. My roommate won’t be home for a couple more hours.
Luke: Sounds like a good idea.
The two men then head out the front door.
