Hi Folks,

FYI: we have an evaluation license for a performance and trace tool for java for today. Curious as I am we tested it with opennms (1.6.1-1 on SunOS 5.10 sparc 64 bit, but opennms is running with 32 bit. Java Version 1.6.0_12 Sun, JVM 11.2-b01 Sun).

Here is one thing we found: the reason why the login (we are using ldap) takes a little bit more than 10 seconds is an exception taking about 10 seconds. I added the trace from the tool dynatrace, maybe someone is interested in this - I hope it's not a mistake in our config, as there are no error messages and everything is working I dont think so.

It's a pitty that the license will expire today and when you start to work we will be out of office, otherwise I could test other things of interest for you. I did a quick check why going to the "Reports -> KSC Performance, Nodes, Domain" takes so long and found out that it's a bunch of small sql requests against the postgres db, all are relatively fast, but it's the sum of them. I previously thought it might be disc access to all the RRD files (we have a lot of them), but maybe I will return once more to db tuning. Maybe there are just too many nodes in the db or something like this (vacuumd is running). Nice tool this dynatrace, maybe they will give you a license for free  ;-)

PS: will be out of office for some time taking my holidays next weeks...

We have a license for the YourKit profiler, which I've played with a
bit in the past.  The makers of YourKit are kind enough to provide us
with the license at no cost.

I would be interested to see whether the exception you saw persists in
OpenNMS 1.7, which uses a newer version of Spring Security (formerly
ACEGI Security for Spring) than the 1.6 release.  Perhaps we'll get a
chance to look at these things in your environment before too long.
