I hope that some of the ORPCA drivers from the ORP weekend post their feedback on the track and how the days went!

Here's a repost of my earlier response in another thread:

"Just finished the OR PCA event at ORP on 4/18/09.  Thanks to ORP and the PCA for the event and for making this amazing track happen.  This is a fantastic but very challenging track.  If you do not enter this track well rested, alert and with a fair dose of caution there is the very real chance it will bite you hard.  The elevations and blind corners at ORP are not forgiving.  By the end of the day, however, things began making more sense and it was a blast.  Thanks again everybody.

repost from my response in another thread... "ORP is still a work in progress, but from my point of view, the track is challenging and quick. The videos DO NOT give justice to the elevation changes nor the blind apexes. The track is a blast to drive but will take some time to find the really quick line around.

There are a couple of areas that I found particularly challenging - the braking zone into the barn turn, and the last uphill off camber turn with a blind apex at a K barrier onto the front straight.

Honestly, it is the most physically demanding track I've driven in a while. I feel like I was in a shifter kart! Sore and tired from being used and abused.... But in a good way"

This was my first track in this vehicle. A 914 6 - 2.7 - The 901 gearbox I have in the car is pretty good for this track. (A GA M Q V) Third gear in most areas with second only once (when I messed up) fourth and fifth on the two straights when running about 7/10's. Front sway bar set at mid stiff, shocks (koni yellows) set at two clicks (mid between full hard and full soft). I am not running a limited slip nor am I running a rear bar. The setup was very neutral and predicable. Tires were at 32 all around (cold) and headed to 36 all around after the quicker second session. Oil temp was a problem as it didn't get over 150! Trans temp was 155 with no cooler.

I only ran two sessions as I set off my extinguisher system (by accident - resetting safety pin!) and didn't think it prudent to push the car any harder without a fire suit and a functioning fire suppression system!

Great track!

went to the Star event last weekend (august 30) where we did full circuits in both directions. enjoyed it immensely. nice weather with a very light and variable breeze, maybe a tad hot towards the end of the day.

On the drive home afterwards hit what evidently is normal horrible Sunday night 1-90 traffic. Basically stopped from Thorp to Easton  with occasional creeping. Sorry for bringing this up. just such a bad experience I had to get it out.
For the majority of you who take another route home I imagine you are still remembering the event fondly.

What a neat track to drive, lots of fun turns and a few " pay extra attention "  corners thrown in. Not much for the drag crowd yet, the straights are over before you get to top gear. Thanks to all the drivers and organizers for being such wonderful people.

Star put on a great event, with a lot of corner workers and staff, extra thanks to all those people.

I'm thinking some day we will all look back and remember ORP when it was "basic". We will think of ourselves as being special for having been there. In a sense we are history.
