Hello Everyone
I was given the address of this forum a few months ago by Keely and although I have been by to visit now and then, I have only just gotten around to registering.
My name is Ruth and I was finally diagnosed with FM last week after what seems like three years of hell trying to get help and failing at every hurdle.
I have widespread pain that to be honest moves around all over the place and what hurts right now will prob have moved by the morning.  I get horrid headaches and dry eyes and skin.  I have had anaemia to one degree or another for three years and I have an underactive thyroid.  I get tired easily and frequently and walking around is sooo painful.

OK, moans over :)
I have FM but I'll be darned if Im going to let it define me!

I am a teacher (Adult Ed) and also a Complementary Therapist and Tarot Reader.  These days I do a lot of teaching online but I also work as a Teacher for the WEA (Workers Education Association) in community courses for adults teaching stressbusting and English, Maths and IT.
I'm also mum to seven great kids age4d between 22 and 7 years, and have been married to Mark for almost 25 years now.
I have loads of interests, including needlecrafts and card making, but my passion is for the Healing Arts and giving Tarot and Angel Card readings.  I love to give workshops too when I can, mostly cos it means I can talk loads and loads, and as you might hav e guessed by now, I love to talk about the things I am passionate about and to share my love of them with anyone who wants to listen :D  I also run two websites with my hubby, who does all the techy stuff.

I cant wait to get stuck in and chat with other peeps who understand how I feel, so watch out :)

Welcome to the forum Ruth.
I'm sorry that you have to suffer from the dreaded FM..... I'm ever grateful that it's not terminal even though there are days were I could cheerfully roll up in a ball and sleep forever. As long as you can look at it the right way, there arefar more good days to be had.
Have fun etting to know us all

Howdy doody pardner and to the nuthouse, (aka life savers)

I have to tell you that this is the THIRD time I've started doing this darned post, both other times I've cocked it up by touching the wrong key, (bl**dy fibro figners today), and losing the lot!

So, I'll keep this brief coz it's proving to be a realllll struggle but hopefully we'll be able to natter more at a later date. Try stopping her, I hear others cry.

I'll end by saying that I'm pleased you've stumbled upon our, (relatively), happy band of fibromites but sad that it means you've defo got the dreaded thing that is the bane of all our lives on here, (apart from that lucky ole beggar Graham who appears to be in remission at the mo, gawd I hope it lasts for him, gives us all hope), but am pretty sure that you'll have your chuckle muscles worked out most days and as we all know, exercising yer chuckle muscles helps prevent wrinkles, and it will save you from searching for yer hari kari knives......it did with me when I fell in 'ere. Besides which, me hubby keeps hiding 'em so I can never find the damned things!

I'm off to try and hobble up the stairs to encourage meself to have a shower and put clothes on so I can almost resemble a human instead of the homeless baglady I'm resembling at the mo. It looks as if, no matter what, I'll have to drag me sorry bum to Tesco today coz the poor pooch has just upchucked his entire brekkie and I'm pretty sure it was coz he woofed down what looked like a chunk of breadroll/crusty bread that he found in our garden first thing but had it devoured before I could make it out to him. Gawd knows if it was dropped by an over-optimistic bird who thought he could carry more than he could, or if a wandering fox left it behind, but either way I'd rather poor pooch hadn't found it. So, he's going to be treated to either boiled chicken and rice or steamed white fish and rice for his tea tonight to settle his tum. Hubby's not about to go for me today, so Tesco it is....oh joy........

Until we can natter again Ruth,
Gentle hugglies, (coz we know how real hugs can bl**dy hurt!)

Whey hey!!!!! I've finally managed to finish a post without losing it all first!!!!!! Not been my day so far......

Well we call it fibrofignres! As is f..i..b..r..o..f.i..n..g..e..r..s... see easy peasey when you only do one letter at a time but rather time consuming I'm afraid

Have you ever seen the website where it's got what they call the 'fibropaedia'? It's like a dictionary but gives humerous names to things that our fibro makes happen. I'll see if I can find it before I end this coz it's really quite funny. Hang on.....I'll pop and do a googly thingy right this minoot. brb

bum! Didn't work. Now I know I hadn't dreamt seeing this thing a couple of years ago, so it's gonna take more in depth searching methinks, even if it's just to prove I've not totally lost the plot......well not completely anyhoo

Know exactly how yer feelin' with the crappy stuff though mate, we're all w-a-y too intimate with that more's the pity. To add to my fibrojoys today I've got me bl**dy dizziness back and it's very annoying to say the least. Thankfully I'm not able to stand up quickly or I'd be ending up horizontal all the time, but simply turning me bonce is making me dizzy today. Probably due to me neck probs again. I'm wondering if I ought to get a slightly deeper surgical collar coz when my original neck injury happened, (back in 1983), I had an extra deep small one but the ones I've got now aren't extra deep. Got a bit of swan neck me. Attractive huh? At least me collar is customised.....if I'm not wearing me dream catcher around it, I wear other celtic type pendants with those adjustable cords so it can be tightened up when it's in place. Funny thing is, I've been 'customizing' me collar for over four years and for some reason it's only been commented on by people recently. Odd that. Maybe it's me butt ugly mug that's suddenly drawn peoples attention now that it's getting more wrinkles?

Well Ruth I hope yer flare up doesn't last toooooooo much longer. Keep yer pecker up and have some of these to cheer ya up

Allll very gentle ones natch.
