Hello all,

This is my first email in this mailing list. I would be pleased to
contribute to audacity mac os version. I already had a quick look on
the project and it looks nice. A few words about myself. I am 26,
French, C++ Developer. Also I have authored a nice application for
iPhone with two friends , Virtual Metronome. It aimed to be the most
featured metronome on the app store . (http://cb.sogedis.fr/vMetronome)

The most valuable feature I would like to see in Audacity would be
support for Scrolling right/left using trackpad or any other mouse
supporting such an event. Also, It would be nice to also be able to
zoom in and out using trackpad of all recent apple laptops.

Regards,

Romain Pechayre

Bonjour et bienvenue!

I just recently joined this developer's list. I am not an Audacity expert
but would be happy to test anything for (I compile on Windows 7).

Hello, Romain

Thanks for subscribing.

It would need someone with knowledge of wxMac to comment about
the Trackpad, but (unless it's been addressed in the latest wx 2.9
development branch) I do know that Widgets doesn't report horizontal
scrolling even with a regular mouse.

We're currently aiming to release a new 2.0 Stable version in the very
near future, so our focus is on major problems at the moment. The bugs
we have are currently listed here:
http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Release_Checklist

Nominally, a P2 bug would stop us releasing a Stable version, but
we may (possibly) waive that for the Windows 7/Vista P2s if we can't
resolve them soon.

If you have any input on (or can test) anything on that list to do with
Mac, especially:

P2 (Mac) Hang when scanning for VST effects on fresh install
P3   R   (reported on Mac) Unreliable project re-opening due to
        duplicate attributes
P3  R  AIFF files created by Audacity from recorded or generated data
import intermittently (but at times very frequently) as noise - files
play fine in other software.

that would be really helpful.

The first "P3" above quite possibly no longer exists.

The second P3 may well be connected with a problem just reported today
on -devel list:
http://n2.nabble.com/Importing-16-bit-WAV-or-AIF-into-24-bit-project-fails-tp3927902p3927902.html

I haven't found this P3 problem to repeat mechanistically but it is
definitely there, and the only reason it is not rated higher is that
it (doesn't seem to be) reproducible to order. One scenario I know
where the problem can occur is using an audacity.cfg settings file
that's a mix of 1.3 settings and settings from a previous 1.2 version.
Initialising .cfg (by removing all the content except
"NewPrefsInitialized=1" at the top) seems then to cure the problem.
But you can still get the problem occurring again later with a .cfg that
was previously initialised.

Hi Romain

Mac developers and testers always welcome!  What do you have to offer
in our run-up to the 2.0 release?  Anything on
http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Release_Checklist

Thanks for your interest
Martyn
