I've often thought about the reasons to create artificial languages.
Here's a list of potential reasons:
1) to make something that didn't already exist (with a new use)
2) to make a universal tongue
3) to improve language-learning abilities
4) to improve language capabilities
5) to invent new capabilities in language
. . .
