Can you explain what does not build please, Ed? Are you following
"3. Get the Manual" from win/release.txt?

"Make sure you have python installed and on your path.
Delete audacity\help\manual if it exists.
Go to audacity\scripts\mw2html_audacity.
Run wiki2htm and wait for it to complete.
The manual should have been built in audacity\help\manual."

Installed and in the path; working for other apps and from the command line.

> Delete audacity\help\manual if it exists.
[   Ed--   ]
It is an empty folder...deleted it.

> Go to audacity\scripts\mw2html_audacity.

[   Ed--   ]
There are two files  wiki2htm.bat and  wiki2htm.sh.

The .sh file just gives me "Windows can't open this file...needs to know
what program you want to use to open it..." then offers a choice of "Search
the web..." or "Select a program from a list of installed programs".
Searching the web finds nothing.

The .bat file runs but only creates an empty  audacity\help\manual
directory.

My (wild) guess is that this is a security issue. I doubt that Python has
scripting permission to access the internet.

So, I created a manual directory in   audacity\scripts\mw2html_audacity (to
avoid all the redirection) and ran:
python mw2html.py "http://audacityteam.org/manual" "manual" -s
directly with no string replacement. This sort of worked but most of the
expected files did not retrieve--I only got the "index" page and no linked
pages:

This does allow the help project to proceed successfully during the "make
solution" process. Before it reported a non-fatal error.

Right after I did the below mentioned retrieve I tried to grab the CVS HEAD
and had to try a couple of times as the online location was listed as "does
not exist". It might all have been an internet glitch--will try the retrieve
again later today.

Hmm.   Run for me here, with the odd connectivity issue (using
wiki2htm.bat).  Don't run it too often though, it must load our server!
