German has many useful words that have no English equivalent. Several years ago I ran across one that was explained to mean "a sense of closing doors," most commonly due to age, as in, "Can't do ... any more," or perhaps, "I'll never..."
Being age 60 at the time, and very aware of that particular state of mind, I found the word useful. My recollection of it is that it was spelled terschlusspanik, but apparently my memory door has closed, because no on-line German-English dictionary verifies the word.
Can someone help?
