Hi,
The Plone community is organising a special event called
World Plone Day[1] on November 7th and here in New Zealand we're seeking
volunteers nationwide but particularly in the main centers who can help
out. As you can see from the OpenPlans site (referenced in the footnote)
there are a number of countries participating and the activities at each
location will depend on the individuals/companies organising the event
but in general they will consist of speeches about Plone, Plone-based
coding competitions/activities, dissemination of information about Plone
and general fun (well that's the plan anyway). The event is basically a
way of marketing Plone to the world and some things we were thinking of
doing in order to support that goal are giveaways such as Plone
t-shirts, leaflets, technical books, and other swag.
We already have Google sponsorship and I also should be able to organise
technical books (Plone-specific mostly) to be given away on the day. All
we really need from *you* is a venue to host the event at and some
activities on the day/night (we're only having a 2-hour evening event in
Christchurch) - what you do on the day is up to you!
