[GRASS-windows] ESRI shape files import

I am new in Grass GIS. I am learning Windows native GRASS 6.3 .

I will be very grateful if any one could tell me in brief how i could
import SHAPE files into
GRASS and convert it into GRASS data.

v.in.ogr

which in the GUI is

File->Import vector map->Multiple fomats using OGR
