Hi Paolo,

it seems that we cannot code the name of the language in
ISO 639-1 (where only 'pt' is found).

Probably we have to change to ISO 639-2 names? Since I am
not very familiar with that, I'd like to hear suggestions.
Then the Makefile in locale/ would need an update.

Hi Paolo,

ok, I found an easy solution! Now the file
grasslibs_pt_br.po
is in 6.1-CVS. Please try it if it works for
you.

Congratulations,

 Markus

Sorry about that. I should have paid more attention to the names in the norm.

From what I've seen, changing to ISO 639-2 wouldn't help either,
because is the same language, but with a "local flavour". So I think
we should stick to 639-1.

However, I can assure you that are significant differences between pt
and pt_br to warrant two versions. Not that one cannot understand the
other, but it is a bit uncomfortable.... I think is almost the same as
with german and swiss german.

When we happen to have a (proper) portuguese version, then we should
think on how to deal with this variants.

Hi Paolo,

maybe you have seen my other message - your file is
in GRASS 6.1-CVS now and should be correctly identified
by the LOCALE. I have to modify the Makefile in locale-
for this. I think that I have found a way to have two
indicators now, so identifiers such as pt_br are no longer
a problem.

Please test on your end (either with 'cvs up -dP' or the
next Saturday's snapshot).

Cheers

 Markus
