[GRASS translations] DEBUG-messages in grasslibs_*.po

Dear developers,

due to the fact, that the coordinate-language of GRASS is english, I
vote for not tranlating the debug-messages (e.g. for lib/gis/debug.c) in
grasslibs_*.po.

It mostly causes confusion if a user posts debugging-messages in their
locale.

 What do you think?

Best

Hi Stephan,

I'm not sure on this. I think it is often good for users to know what
is going wrong on his computer, so I think messagen in their locale
are helpful.
However, if he/she asks for international help, then you need to
understand the problem, and don't rely on his english skills...

So, I vote for both: English and a brief, localised version.

If a user is requesting help from an international list (e.g.
[hidden email] or [hidden email]), *all* program output
should be in English, not just debugging messages. IOW, they should be
running the program in the C locale.

[I know of at least one developer list where any message containing
"Speicherzugriffsfehler" or "Erreur de segmentation" (the German and
French translations of "Segmentation fault") will get bounced.]

OK, so translating should be done. Thanks for your input.

Should we remove the macros then from debug.c?

Markus

Hi all.

Sorry for resurrecting this old message,
but I was wondering if it was made clear to users that
when looking for help in GRASSlist (or any other int'l list) they
should post their debug/log messages in the C locale?

thanks.
