Hi,
please install the mediawiki-math package, it allows us to use TeX markup
for formulae.
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Formula ISTR that this worked some months ago (Apr 2009?), but now it does not.

Something to keep an eye on: on Debian/lenny it sucks in a lot of TeX
foreign language support packages which togethwe weigh in at ~500mb
installed! (in addition to the standard TeX packages which were already
present)
