The latest release of NEST (Next ESA SAR Toolbox) 3B is now available for free at http://earth.esa.int/nest
NEST is an ESA toolbox with an integrated viewer for reading, post-processing and analysing ESA and 3rd party SAR data starting from Level 1. Distributed as fully open source, NEST allows users to easily develop new readers and post-processors for SAR data by means of a Java Application Programming Interface (API). NEST is developed by Array Systems Computing Inc. under contract to ESA.
NEST 3B adds the following features:
- Orthorectification for Envisat ASAR, ERS, Radarsat2 and Alos Palsar L1.1 products
- Orthorectification Using Simulated SAR Image
- Mosaicking
- Batch Processing
- Multi-temporal & Refined Lee Speckle Filtering
- Ship Detection
- Oil Spill Detection
- Bug fixes and performance enhancements
Supported product formats now include:
ENVISAT ASAR, ERS AMI 1 & 2 (CEOS & Envisat format from PGS and VMP), JERS SAR, ALOS PALSAR, TerraSarX(except SSC), Radarsat 2, BEAM DIMAP, GeoTIFF, HDF, NetCDF, ENVI, PolsarPro, GETASSE30 DEM, ACE DEM, SRTM DEM
NEST 3B also improves on the features from past releases including:
- A Display and Analysis Tool (DAT) SAR data visualisation, analysis and processing.
- A Graph Processing Tool (GPT) for command line execution of batch processing chains.
- Convert data to COTS file formats for use with third-party software
- Creation and processing of graphs
- Tiled image viewing and support for very large datasets
- Coregistration of Detected and Complex Products
- Reading, displaying and calibrating of ENVISAT ASAR, ERS 1 & 2 and ALOS PALSAR
- Statistics, quick-looks and ingestion of parts or entire datasets
- Conversion of Slant Range to Ground Range
- Time domain Mulitlooking
- Mean, Lee, Frost, Gamma Map Speckle Filtering
- ASAR Wave-Mode product support
- Principle Component Analysis
- Resampling
- Band Arithmetic
- Image Filtering
- Layer Management
- Vector Shape layers
- Web Map Service (WMS) layers
- NASA WorldWind integration
- Map Projection & Subset operators
- Ingestion and utilisation of external orbit files - DORIS VOR, POR and DELFT Precise Orbits are supported
- Third-party developers are able to extend software and add new readers, writers and operators.
