Greetings, and thanks, Joel.

OSGEO colleagues, I've enjoyed being at the GIS Day event at Carleton these last few years, and the OSGEO flyers have always generated interest and some good chats with teachers, university students (the high school students generally just want to get outside and play with the GPS receivers), and general community members that come to see the displays.  This year, however, I will still be in Australia when this happens.  If anyone else wants to volunteer to be on hand to talk to people about OSGEO / OS GIS software at GIS day this year, great.  If you are interested, or have further questions, please see the web site noted below and/or contact Joel Rivard.

Subject: GIS Day at Carleton University - November 18 2009

Good Morning Scott,

Would you mind extending this invitation to members of OSGEO?

Carleton University Library and the Department of Geography & Environmental Studies will be hosting this year’s GIS Day on Wednesday November 18th, 2009. This year’s event will be from 10:00 am and 3:00 pm in the Loeb Lounge, 2nd floor of the Loeb Building.

We would like to thank you for helping make GIS Day such a success in previous years, and would be grateful to have you come again this year. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your expertise and mentor students. In addition, a table will also be setup where students and exhibitors have the opportunity to exchange contact information and make connections. Please let me know if you are interested in participating at this year’s event.

For more information on GIS Day at Carleton, please visit http://www.library.carleton.ca/gis/gisday.html.

Sincerely,

The GIS Day Committee
Joel Rivard
