Since Potter is back insisting that congress allow five day delivery, please do a study with your calculator and post results.  What would be the difference in your most recent evaluation by eliminating one day per week (and it's associated mileage, dismounts, R-time, loading etc) but jamming 6 days worth of mail into 5 days.
Should be interesting.  (if you want to take this on)

Also, if we work our J/K day in a 5-day scenario, wouldn't we be entitled to 150% pay or 1/2 pay plus an X-day?  I think I know the answer but would like to hear the theory bandied about.  (Probably wouldn't matter since the subs will disappear)

55:32 to 50:10
I didn't change loading as I thought it would take longer to load.
R time only took out extra service/safety talks.
I adjusted all fixed times for 5 days . ex. mileage is 12 minutes a mile for 6 days, so mileage for 5 would be 10 minutes a mile.
Of course these are all assumptions.

This creates a fascinating conundrum:  You would be (personally) jamming 50 HOURS OF WORK INTO 5 DAYS!  You should STILL get a relief day!!  ie FOUR DAY WORK WEEK.  (although you would go to 40 hours pay).  In my situation assuming a 5 hour loss I should go to 42 hours per week.  I thought that sinister minister's comment about relief day was moot since we were going to 5 days, but many people would actually go to 4 DAYS

starting out with a 50 hour week (6 days) and reducing  it to  5, eliminates about 5-6 hrs of driving, bringing you down to about 44-45 hrs.  -  my route is now 48 hrs.  2 hours of office time - 6 hours driving.  of course with no time allowed in the office for casing dps some allowance would have to be made for the extra volumn. i don't see the possibility of a 4 day week unless the route is way overburdened, and then if i'm sure there would be an adjustment to keep it within time.

at the top of the scale is a 48K at 57hours 36minutes.  above that and you are off the chart.  that route (57:36) divided by 6 days equals a 9.5 hour day.  that is the top of the chart, the highest you can go.  Frozentoes in the above example would lose 5 hours taking the route to 50hours l0minutes.  dividing that by 5 days takes the route to a little over l0 hours per day.  That is off the chart.

I see the possibility that Frozentoes route would be given a relief day working 4 ten hour days equaling 40K pay. A drastic, terrible pay cut, but a wonderful work week.  Some regulars would love it---some hate it.   Affected subs would love it.

In my situation, recently falling to a 43"J" route, (47 hours/6 day)  losing a max of 5 hours (i suspect it may be less for lower mileage routes) would take me to 42/5day.  A small paycut and a 5 day workweek.    hmmmmm this is getting interesting, we ALL take paycuts.  I had originally been thinking, that the 5 day workweek would boost route evaluations by jamming 6 days worth of mail into 5.

But wait, looking at my chart, take a 50 hour 42K route.  Take 5 hours off of THAT route and you get 45 jammed into 5 days: a 45K.
That route gets a nice INCREASE.

(just examining some what-if's here)
