Normally on Friday's we pick a British movie to watch over the weekend. But, this week we have been entertained by a well known British podcaster called Richard Vobes. We really enjoyed his fun and exciting look at British History and really deserves a look, plus you can download and watch on your portable media players. Great entertainment for a bus, plane, train or automobile journey.

Richard Vobes, also known as Vobes, is an entertainer, actor, film maker and professional podcaster who has produced over 1000 shows since January 2005. He does two podcasts, one simply called VOBES (previously the Richard Vobes Radio Show) which is typically about 30 to 40 minutes in length and is broadcast from the 'beach hut' near his house in Worthing, West Sussex, England, while the other is a behind-the-scenes personal audio journal entitled The Naked Englishman. His VOBES show ranges from commentary on recent news events to Friday night beer reviews, as well as a wide variety of audio tours from all over the UK. The show is periodically co-presented either by listeners via Google Talk or Skype or by his teen daughter Georgie or close friend Jimmy, or Paul Stoneman and with occasional appearances by his 12 and 16-year-old sons, Billy and Stanley.

Vobes is currently out an about this week filming more historical landmark's around the UK with his cameraman Mark Taylor. We look forward to another feast of short movies written, edited and directed by Vobes himself. Until then, we highly recommend downloading his previous shows from here:

Currently, available online to download for only 2 British pounds are:

Racton Folly - Thought to be a summer house or observation platform, the Racton Folly stands alone deserted on the top of a hill over looking Chichester in West Sussex. People say that it is haunted, and you do get an eerie feeling as you stand inside.

Sussex Tollgates - The Turnpike Trusts started erecting tollgates and collecting fees for road maintainence in 1663. Sussex has over 500 turnpiked roads and an asortment of curious buildings which over the recent years has all but a few disappeared.

The Medieval Bridge - This remarkable bridge is 600 years old, it has survived floods and Second World War  tanks driving over it. It may not be the biggest bridge in the world, but in West Sussex it is most definitely the best loved one. It has beauty, charm and endurance. What more could you ask in a bridge?

There is also a 4 part video of Vobes in the USA - A Trip that was funded by his many podcast listeners.

Hope you enjoy the short films and please check out Richard at Vobes.com
