Forum homepage: embedding, non-forum section, etc.

I want to set up a homepage for these forums, and embed them there. There, we will be able to add more thematic aesthetics. We will also be able to add other, non-forum, pages—like a page featuring those who frequent the forums, their websites, and so forth (with bios and such, if desired).

Also, I might set up a Tiddlywiki for some collaborative fiction (fantasy) if there is interest. It would be linked from the site (though probably hosted on Tiddlyspot). Anyone with the password could edit it.

Anyway, let me know what you think, and how else to improve the site once it's up.

Regarding the web host:
I had an account with freegbs.com, and it was working well (with an ftp client), but it seems to be down.  They didn't have ads. They did put a small text tag on the bottom of every page, though.

If anyone knows of a reliable web host, let me know. We could certainly use one (especially if it's free and has no ads). Tiddlyspot is reliable and ad free, but I can't embed the forums there. It could be used for other purposes, and just linked from here, on the other hand. Google Pages seems to work well, but they don't allow new users (its replacement, Google Sites, will not allow embedded forums).

Thanks for all your help (or moral support if you don't help)!

Your idea of creating a homepage for this forum is a great one!  It will really be an excellent incentive for people to join if they have the chance to "advertise" their own websites and such through the forum.  Word of mouth can also be a very powerful marketing devise to use.  That is how I have been able to sell a good number of copies of my new novel, "Domain of Illusion".  Unfortunately, I do not have very much technical expertise as far as website design goes.  I'm just thrilled that I have figured out how to post replies for messages like this!  Lol!
