First test of the jOrgan Freedom VTPO 3/29 disposition

Hi,

Here's the most recent screen cap of the disposition:

http://www.findandstay.co.za/images/12June_Freedom3-29.png

For those already using Joe's HVO with GigaStudio or LinuxSampler,
here is a copy of the jOrgan disposition that I'm working on. It
requires the install version of jOrgan 3.6.1
(https://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php?group_id=124803&filename=jOrgan-3.6.1-installer1.exe&a=15943835).
Download the Freedom VTPO disposition from:

http://www.findandstay.co.za/images/Freedom_3_29.zip

Just decompress the file into the Dispositions directory of jOrgan on
your harddrive, this should create the Freedom_3_29 directory within
which you will find the skin file and the disposition. Start jOrgan,
and then navigate to this directory and open the disposition.

You should be able to use the jOrgan customization wizard (from the
menu: File > Customize) to configure the disposition to your MIDI
setup. Currently the first 16 ranks are configured to MIDI Yoke 6, and
the rest to MIDI Yoke 7, so you will either need to change this in the
disposition or configure your GigsStudio or LinuxSampler to these MIDI
Yoke Ports.

Please be aware that this disposition is still a TEST version (and
probably has some things not working that I simply have not had time
to test yet, and some mistakes). I would appreciate as many people as
possible doing some testing so that we have a near perfect disposition
by the end of the month :-)

Things that I know still have to be done or tested:
The Sleighbells Rank needs to be created and configured to the Sleighbell stops.
The Cancel Traps button needs to be checked (as I have added some more traps).
The couplers have not been tested
The General Sound elements (MIDI out) are still labeled 'LinuxSampler'
The Stop noise has not been added to any of the stops
I haven't tested the toys yet

Questions/Ideas:
Do we want separate Trem stops for Tibia Solo and Tibia Main?
Do we want an 'All Trems On' button?

I hope to have a LinuxSampler configuration with Convolution reverb
ready by the end of the weekend, but weekends have a habit of getting
rather busy, so it might be early next week.

Have fun!

Graham,

Bravo, it just keeps getting better and better!!

Regarding your questions, I prefer to have one Tibia Trem for both ranks and I think that an 'All Trems On' button is a good idea.

A few other suggestions:

- Can you add '+' and '-' buttons next to the Memory display?  The user could use pistons at the console to increment or decrement the memory level.

- The Pedal traps do not have the abbreviations as do all other traps stops.

- Can we eliminate the 8' Main Tibia on the Pedal and add an 8' Trumpet?

- Stop Action Noise should be triggered on port 1 / channel 10 / note# 72 whenever any piston is hit.

- Trem Box Noise should be triggered on port 1 / channel 10 / note# 74 whenever any trem control is 'on' and regenerated* whenever any piston is hit while any Trem control is on.

- Blower Noise should be triggered on port 1 / channel 10 / note# 73 when the Blower 'Start' is engaged and regenerated* whenever any piston is hit while the Blower is on.

* While Blower and Trem noise are free running samples, if not periodically regenerated, the effect will get turned off by the note stealing algorithm whenever polyphony limits are exceeded.  This will require some boolean logic - can jOrgan handle?

I need to record samples for the Slide Whistle and Bell Tree effects, as well as a reiterating Glock for the Orchestra Bells.  Sleighbells, Quintadena, Main Vox,  Viol Celeste and Flute Celeste are done, but need to be distributed.

I am updating the Excel spreadsheet to reflect your latest changes.

This June 12 message is the last word I have received about the 3/29
Freedom Organ.

Has there been additional information? I have been having email problems
and am worried I may have missed the announcement of the new organ in
its final state.

Hi Jim,
The test jOrgan Freedom VTPO 3/29 disposition is available in the file
section of the VTPO yahoo group. I've been unwell and have not
finished the LinuxSampler  LSCP setup that uses the UGSF GIG files
available at Kent Allman's site, and Joe has not published the new HVO
files that will be used for the HVO version. jOrgan 3.7 beta4 is out
(with the MIDI recorder) but is not ready to be used yet - hopefully
by the end of July it will be fully stable and I can then migrate the
Freedom VTPO to it.

What GIG files will you be using? the HVO or UGSF?

Good Morning or afternoon as the case may be:
Graham I am a 90 year old would-be organist who can only handle this
when I get a play-by-play set of instructions. I will wait until you
have recovered and write a detailed 1-2-3- set of instructions that even
an old man can follow. I am playing the Miditzer 260 now and have
latency problems therefore I look forward to the Linux set up when I
will be able to play something other than waltzes.
Trust you recover quickly and totally.
I have a Yamaha FS70- 2 and a half manual 13 pedal organ that David
Scambler in Australia set me up with a gadget to provide the Midi out -
then John Ferguson gently lead me along the registration path - now I
think a South African is going to bring it all together. What a
wonderful world group we have.
Thanks so much for all that you have done and are planning to do in VTPO
field.

FYI, I don't see one point stressed enough about Miditzer. When you have latency problems make sure you try reducing the Miditzers buffers down to 4 or 5. I have installed it on at least six pc's that have various onboard and add-on soundcards and that always made the latency virtually disappear. As in not noticeable.
