For those who’ll be voting this year, there are two important messages below.  If you don’t want to see the short film on McCain, just skip down to “1)” and “2)” beneath it for info of use to all voters.

Hi Mike,

Please take 13 minutes to watch this film:

and then please forward it on to friends and family. Thanks!

PS - Today is the last day to register to vote in Utah! Here is a note from VotersUnite.org:

Voters!

We have two important alerts today. Please pass this email on to your distribution lists.

1) Check your voter registration. For months, we have been recommending that everyone check to make sure they are registered to vote. It has recently come to light that 19 states are not following federal law; they are purging voters close to the election.

These states are: Alabama, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Texas and Washington.

But even if you live in some other state, please check your registration status right now, if you can. Otherwise, check on Monday. We have created a page to assist you. It's here:
http://www.votersunite.org/info/RegInfo.asp

If you have been wrongly purged from the voter rolls, don't simply register again. Call your county election official to say you were wrongly purged and should be placed back on the rolls. If you do not get satisfaction, contact your state election officials. If you still have problems, let us know.

2) Don't vote straight-party. Problems abound with straight-party voting on electronic voting machines and on paper ballots. We highly recommend that, if you want to vote for the same party across all races, vote for each individual person separately, and don't mark ! any "straight-party" choice at all.

Thanks!!

Please note, it is still possible to register to vote in the upcoming election until October 20.  You must register in-person at the County Clerk's Office, and you will not be able to vote early.  (Utah Code 20A-2-102.5 states registration deadline shall be the date 30 calendar days before the election.  Utah Code 20A-2-201 states registration will be accepted in the office of the County Clerk 15 calendar days before the date of the election, with the stipulation of no early voting.  I agree it's confusing; the first section applies to all registrations, including mail-in forms; the second makes exceptions for in-person registration.  You may also access elections.utah.gov and look under "Registering".)
