Audacity 1.3.5d
Mac OS X 10.5.5

after recording an LP and with labels in position

Export Multiple
    Split files based on:
       √ Labels
    Name files:
       √ Using Label/Track Name

Export
I have to enter album title manually
    √ OK

Subsequent tracks requires album title to be re-entered manually for
each track- Copy/Paste does not work.

On previous versions of Audacity the tag information in Export
Multiple repeated between tracks. Is there a solution to automatically
filling in the tag information?
It would be nice if it picked up the name from the parent file folder.

Some users actually wanted the flexibility to enter custom tags for each
track, for example those working with compilation albums.

You can enter the fixed data (such as Artist) that you want for each
track *before* starting Export Multiple. To do this, click File > Open
Metadata Editor. Then click Audacity > Preferences and click the
Import / Export tab. In the "When exporting tracks..." section at
the bottom, uncheck "Show Metadata Editor prior to export step". Now
you won't see the Metadata Editor when exporting, and the fields you
filled in Metadata Editor before doing Export Multiple will appear in
all the exported files.

Gale,

Thanks for the procedure. Works very well.

A check box for Compilations might be nice addition so either
technique could be chosen.

I agree, if we have the time - it would save those who want fixed fields
for each track having the extra step of opening the tag editor before
export.

As a long-time audacity user, I would submit that the outlined procedure is much less convenient. Individual tag editing should be an option rather than the default. Thanks for the instructions.

We have a number of requests that we should have a checkbox in the Export Multiple dialogue so the entered tags are used in all exported files. It could be checked by default. I think we should try to do it, for improved workflow, and because the default behaviour isn't intuitive, so it isn't obvious how to kill the editor appearing for all files. So I'll add your vote.

Thanks

OK thanks, but we are not promising, as we are very short of developers
at the moment.
.
There is a reasonable workaround by disabling Metadata Editor for the
export step in Preferences, then entering your tags before export, as
described here:
