Hi,
IMHO "Expert Python Programming" by Tarek Ziadé
deserves to be mentioned on the book-section  (recommended reading)
on http://plone.org/documentation.

I would recommend this book too but I'm not aware of the book-section
policies of plone.org. Why this one and not others? Why "Dive into
Python" and "CSS Mastery" but not "Python in a Nutshell" and "CSS: The
Missing Manual"?

Should we only list here books about Plone and Zope?

If there's a policy, I don't know what it is. I suggest we work on one.

My suggestion is that we list:

1) All in-print books that are really about Plone, except for
(hopefully very rare) cases where we conclude that they are truly
out-of-date or poorly done;

2) Books on supporting technologies (Python, Zope, CSS) that are truly
exceptional, and are strongly recommended in the community.

Who decides? For the sake of discussion, let me suggest our new editorial board.

BTW, Tarek's book gets a big +1 from me. It's the best available text
on our whole Python testing, packaging and installation
infrastructure.

Agreed! Sorry, this is usually my task, and it completely slipped my mind.
I'll take care of this.

Normally, yes, we highlight books about Plone and Zope. In this case, I
think it's important to also highlight a book written by an important of the
Zope/Plone community, even if it's not specifically about Zope / Plone.

Certainly, we could recommend other books, but we don't want to take up too
much real estate. As we modify the UI in the docs area, maybe it's worth
looking at having a more expansive reading list.

I'm happy to add this to the plone.org "contributing to plone" section. We
can fill it in as we go.

If anyone cares:

http://plone.org/documentation/how-to/about-profiling-books-in-the-documenta
tion-section

Feel free to make suggestions / changes. I think this still opens up the
discussion as to whether we should highlight books like CSS Mastery, etc.
Personally, I think it's a great book and would not have found out about it,
except through the grapevine. Maybe we need an "extended" list of books not
by Plonistas? Happy to table this until the next docs meeting, and I'll add
it to the agenda.

I'd hazard a guess that 90% of our developers would benefit from reading
this book. It has a great focus and covers a number of technologies
(like eggs and buildout) that are used extensively in the Zope and Plone
worlds.

So, a big +1 from me on including it.

It's almost there. I've updated the image, but I need to add the book
itself. Crazy day, I'll do it this weekend.
